“What a friend we have in Jesus.
All our sins and griefs to bear!
Can we find a friend so faithful
Who will all our sorrows share?
Precious Savior, still our refuge—
Take it to the Lord in prayer.
In His arms He’ll take and shield thee,
Thou wilt find a solace there.” 1

There are friends who are there for a time of loss or a time of crisis for a season, and there are special friends who are there for seasons. But there is not one there for every grief and every sorrow as an ever-present, abiding refuge to listen, to care, to shield, to love. There is not one earthly friend/companion here who can take our sins and griefs and bear these in a personal sacrifice of his or her own life.
There is but ONE:
“Precious Savior—still our refuge”
STILL
Now
Always
Eternally
Faithful.
Amen.
12 “This is My commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. 13 Greater love has no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.” (John 15:12-13)
Our Savior had the greatest love as He gave His life for friends and enemy alike.
“WHAT A FRIEND WE HAVE IN JESUS.”
The One who gave His life for every one individually.
Our FRIEND, Our SAVIOR, Our LORD.
